The collective was founded in 1976 and has been led by Vytautas Petras Murauskas since the beginning. Today it is one of the strongest senior folk dance groups in Lithuania, renowned for its high artistic level performances, repertoire that upholds deep traditions, and which has won many prestigious awards at national and international festivals and competitions. It brings together people for whom dance is not only a movement, but also a way of preserving national identity.
