Founded in 1974, “Gija” is one of the longest-lasting folk dance ensembles of Panevėžys seniors, appreciated for its energy, elegance and preservation of folk dance traditions. The ensemble celebrates the city of Panevėžys at the World Lithuanian Song Festivals, republican and international festivals, city events and competitions, presenting performances of high artistic level in Lithuania and abroad. The ensemble brings together people from different professions for whom “Gija” has become more than a dance – it is a way of life, a way of fostering traditions, culture and meaningful community.
