The ensemble “Grandinėlė”, which has been in existence since 1978, brings together young dancers who want to uphold the traditions of folk dance. The ensemble has performed at 20 Republican, Schoolchildren and World Lithuanian Song Festivals, more than a hundred international dance festivals in Europe and around the world, and has won many awards. Currently the ensemble consists of 4 dance groups of different ages from 1st to 12th grade. Here, young people discover the joy of dance, nurture their talents and build community. Ensemble Director:
Zita Rimkuvienė, a prominent figure in Lithuanian culture, choreographer, and ballet mistress and teacher. She is the founder of the “Grandinėlė” children’s and youth dance ensemble (1978) and the “Linas” (1980), which she continues to lead to this day. In 2012, she was honored as “Panevėžys Resident of the Year,” a title nominated by the Panevėžys City Municipality, for her contributions to culture and the arts In 2022, she was awarded the “Serve Lithuania” Medal in Memory of Gabrielė Petkevičaitė-Bitė by the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania.
