The Anykščiai Cultural Center Theater’s production “Devilishly Alone,” based on the poetry of Paulius Širvys, is a poignant story about loneliness, longing, unrequited love, and the desire to change one’s life.
The action takes place in a train station cafeteria, where two strangers meet—the cafeteria worker and a lonely, frozen man. Through the verses of Paulius Širvys, he recounts his story of ill-fated love, and the unexpected encounter turns into a candid conversation about what hurts a person and what they long for.
The performance was created for intimate venues, so it is staged not only on theater stages but also in cafes, outdoor plazas, and other unconventional spaces. Over the years, it has been performed more than 400 times in various cities and towns across Lithuania.
“Velnioniškai vienas” represented Lithuania at international festivals in Macedonia, Montenegro, Estonia, Poland, and the Faroe Islands, and was also screened for Lithuanians living in Ireland.
The performance lasts 40 minutes.
