The Academy Cultural Center Theater presents the play “A Wedding Idyll for the Most Illustrious Prince,” based on the works of Motiejus Kazimieras Sarbievijus.
The literary basis for the play is linked to the 1628 collection of wedding-themed works titled “The Wedding Procession,” dedicated to the marriage of Duke Albert Vladislav Radvila and Ona Zenavičiūtė. One of the pieces in this collection is “A Wedding Idyll for the Most Illustrious Duke.”
This poetic work transports the audience to the world of 17th-century celebrations, where the literature, history, and mythological imagery of the time intertwine with the tradition of honoring the newlyweds.
The performance was created to commemorate the Motiejus Kazimieras Sarbievijus Year.
Director: Erika Usevičiūtė.
