For the third year in a row, Skaistakalnis Park will host a celebration of the Autumn Equinox and Baltic Unity Day around a bonfire.
When day and night are equal, nature pauses briefly for a moment of balance. The light of summer fades, the harvest ripens, and this evening invites us to reflect on what unites us—the earth, fire, our ancestors, and one another.
Event participants are invited not only to observe the rituals but also to become part of them. Ancient Lithuanian, Latvian, and Prussian hymns will be sung, a sacred fire will blaze, and the shared roots of the Baltic peoples—along with traditions that remain alive to this day—will be commemorated.
The rituals will be led by Ovidijus Bacevičius, head of the Skaistakalnis Romuva and a student of ethnomusicology.
The Panevėžys folk ensemble “Pajauta” from the LASS Northeast Center, led by Rima Žostautienė, will perform alongside the rituals.
