{"id":5624,"date":"2026-10-02T16:37:24","date_gmt":"2026-10-02T14:37:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pankultura.lt\/renginiai\/the-play-velniava\/"},"modified":"2026-10-02T16:41:00","modified_gmt":"2026-10-02T14:41:00","slug":"the-play-velniava","status":"publish","type":"renginiai","link":"https:\/\/pankultura.lt\/en\/events\/the-play-velniava\/","title":{"rendered":"THE PLAY \u201cVELNIAVA\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Un\u0117 Babickait\u0117 Theater at the Kupi\u0161kis Cultural Center presents the satirical musical (political) comedy \u201cVelniava,\u201d based on Viktoras Mili\u016bnas\u2019s play \u201cZigmas Blynas in Hell.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At the center of the story is Zigmas Blynas, a bureaucrat who finds himself in hell and is appointed head of the reception desk. This is where a grotesque story begins, one that uses humor and irony to expose human vices\u2014bureaucracy, corruption, vanity, incompetence, and selfishness.<\/p>\n<p>Although Viktoras Mili\u016bnas\u2019s play was written as far back as 1955, the themes it explores remain relevant today.
